Found A Lost Dog?

Stay mindful and vigilant. Before approaching, ensure the environment is safe for both you and the dog. Check for oncoming traffic, broken glass, or other hazards.

Observe the dog’s behavior. If the dog appears aggressive, injured, or overly distressed, do not attempt to grab the tag. Your safety is the priority. Pup ID never recommends you put yourself in harm during a rescue. Only when it is completely safe to do so, use your phone to scan the Pup ID QR code or tap the NFC chip with your phone on the logo facing side of the tag.

Share your location. Once scanned, a request will appear asking for your GPS location. Select “Yes” to send the guardian a pinpoint location of the dog. If you decline, our system will provide an estimate to help the guardian find you as quickly as possible.

Head to the Contact Guardian tab. This is your command center for the reunion. You will find contact numbers, email addresses, and the dog’s home address. Use these tools to reach the guardian immediately.

Return the dog home. These details give you every chance to facilitate a fast reunion. Every second counts in getting a lost dog back to their family.

Understand the dog’s needs. While you wait for the guardian, use the profile to understand the dog’s unique personality. Read the About [Dog’s Name] section to get a sense of who the dog is and how to keep them calm.

Review Health and Behaviour. Open the Health & Medical and Behaviour dropdowns immediately. These are the most vital sections. They will alert you to life-threatening allergies, medical conditions, or specific triggers that may cause the dog distress.

Ensure proper comfort. Check the Feeding & Grooming and Veterinary Care sections for additional support. This abundance of information ensures you can help the dog best by respecting their routine and knowing their doctor’s details. Your attention to these sections ensures a safe, comfortable wait for both you and the pup.
